It's a chronograph, in this case meaning the large second hand (chrono hand) is supposed to stand still unless used as a stop clock. The other large hands still work, however. The small dial on the bottom is the seconds - not the stop clock. It's lightweight with the wristband included. It was shipped with the time/date already set. You can always use the chrono hand like a second hand if you want. Just press the top button and it will start moving.
