About Butterfly

Hikosuke Tamasu founded Tamasu Co., Ltd. in the small town of Yanai City, Japan in 1950. This was the beginning of a company career which is almost unique in table tennis. A renowned international for Japan, Tamasu fulfilled his dream of a lifetime when he made his hobby his profession. At that time, he could hardly imagine that he would make Butterfly the leading brand worldwide. Creativity, durability, and a profound technical knowledge meant success. 0ver and over again he looked for new possibilities in order to optimize techniques by innovative playing material. Tamasu realized that each player is different and has strengths and weaknesses. By offering individual playing material Tamasu wanted to help players right from the beginning to emphasize their individuality. Since 1983 Butterfly has its own training and research center in Tokyo. Highly qualified scientists co-operate with world class players and coaches for the development of rubber and blade technology. Butterfly's rubbers and blades are used by more than half of the participants at World and European Championships.

Butterfly Senshu Table Tennis Racket Review

I've been using my Senshu racket for about a month now. It took a little getting used to at first but once I got accustomed to it, I find it hard to play with any other racket. I can say that because of it my game has improved tremendously in all aspects: control, smash and speed. I can reach for balls that I never would have gone after before, my smashes are harder to return and my services carry a spin that is dificult to control by my opponents who feel that I've become a player not to take for granted. This being my first Butterfly paddle, not knowing if it's a tradition with them, I find the handle to feel smaller than the Stiga or Sportcraft I had been using before. (This too, takes some getting used to).
One point to be careful about is that the rubber is very fragile. I can tell how many times I have hit the paddle against the table because it carries the marks. Also, I play outside and as the game proceeds, the rubber gets dirty and its performance suffers. I clean it after every session. For this, I just use a soft sponge and minimal water. Sometimes, I add a little soap being careful not to wet the wood and then I remove the soap with a clean wet sponge again, letting it dry by waving it. I also clean the balls since dust and dirt affects their performance also.
The Senshu is an excellent racket that I recommend to anyone starting to take table tennis seriously and not wanting to invest in the time, money and skills it takes to assemble separate blades and rubbers.

Prince PRP900 Pro Speed 900 Professional Table Tennis Racket Review

I am a very average player, but playing with this racket made a huge difference to my game, my spins were better and I definetely had more control. I played with a friends $150 Butterfly and I could not really feel the difference, but the difference between this racket and the $10 Stiga you buy at Sports Authority is huge.

Product Description:
Equipped with both the Anti-Vibe System (AVS) and the Power Light System (PLS), the Prince Pro Speed 900 professional table tennis racket offers a perfect combination of speed and control. The AVS is a revolutionary new handle system that adjusts to each player's grip through the use of shock-absorbing polymer layers. These dual layers reduce shock and vibration while improving responsiveness and feel, so every shot feels smooth and confident. PLS rackets, meanwhile, are engineered to generate more power than any racket of comparable size and weight. By hollowing the handle, the total weight of the racket transfers toward the head, thereby increasing both power and speed. Specifications range from a sponge thickness of 2 mm to an SSC rating of 10-8-9.

Killerspin RTG-Kido 7P Professional Table Tennis Racket Review

The bat turned out just as I expected. The grip and weight were just right and rubber is extremely fast. Took me a couple of days to get used to the speed though.
