Up until last fall I'd always felt a little silly about carrying it, and as far as snakes go, it may not be effective for all bites, but...Soon after we saw a rattlesnake curled between two boulders on the side of a narrow trail I got stung by a bee, which I'm somewhat allergic to.We were able to draw out the venom so I only had a minor rash, no swelling or pain.I figure it's worth it, just for taking the pain/swelling out of insect stings.
