I have been lifting weights for over 20yrs and I thought I would never be able to squat anymore. I have a bad shoulder and knee. This machine is great,it`s safe,very little strain on your knees and shoulders and lower back.Plus it holds alot of weight.DAMN it`s good to be able to squat again!!!
Be aware, it takes time to put together. If I can do it anyone can. Make sure you have a socket and wrench set.I put it together by myself,if you have help that would be good.

Body Solid GSRM40 Seated Row Machine Review

When we opened this box it was apparent that someone else had thrown the pieces back and returned it - any parts that were strapped to the box had been cut.There were no instructions nor any package with the nuts and bolts.Very disheartening because it was a present for xmas.We wrapped it up (it weighted over 90 bls so it was not easy to handle) and sent it back and got an exchange (reluctantly hoping for another carton that was not used.)We opened the seconed carton which also looked like it had been tampered with, however, all the parts were there and we managed to put the Body Solid together.

I just bought this mat a couple weeks ago because my new gym doesn't have any pilates mats. Most people in my class (about 25 ppl) have yoga mats or mats that are marketed as pilates mats but are really too thin. Last night in class, my teacher used my mat as an example of what people should buy if they are just going to take only pilates, and not yoga as well. I never have to add any additional support mats, as the other people in class do, and it's nice that it's so long because I don't have to worry about touching the dirty floor. I am a beginner/intermediate, and I like using it. I only wish it came with a strap or something to help transport it back and forth better!

Body Solid GCEC340 Cam Series Leg Ext Curl Machine Review

The Body Solid GCEC340 machine is sturdy, and it feels sturdy when using it.I had to phone a Body-Solid sales representative in order to find out what the weight capacity is for it.He told me that it can hold 400 lb of weight plates plus 200 lb of the user's body weight, for a total of 600 lb.Why in the world is this information not included with the machine?

Some of the assembly was difficult.Before explaining, I should note that the Body-Solid web site contains a PDF file of the owner's manual, although it is missing the assembly diagram.But it does show the hardware and parts illustration sheets, which you might find helpful in understanding my explanation of the difficulty. Part G contains a piece of metal (let's call it a dowel, for lack of a better word).The dimensions of the dowel are 3/16" x 1/4" x 2".I had to pry the dowel out of part G in order to be able to insert part G into parts D9, D, B, and F.Prying it out was difficult, and it took me some time to figure out how to do it.It also took time to figure out that prying it out was necessary or even possible.

Here's what contributed to the difficulty: The assembly diagram shows the dowel already separated from G, and the dowel is represented by a line only 3/16" long by 1/16" wide, barely larger than the dashes that link each part in the diagram.And the dowel is not labeled in the diagram, nor is it shown in the hardware and parts illustration sheets.It should have been labeled as a separate part or piece of hardware, and it should not have been inserted into G at the factory, in my opinion!

After inserting part G into parts D9, D, B, and F, I had to hammer the dowel back into part G, with the assistance of a nail set, in order to get the dowel all the way into the slot.Nowhere in the instructions was this procedure explained.

Regarding usage:In order to get one's left leg under the corresponding upper leg pad, the upper leg pads (as a single unit) need to be removed.After sitting down, then the upper leg pads can be inserted back into the machine.This is an inconvenience because it slows down a workout when doing leg curls, assuming you wish to stand up between sets to stretch and/or to alter the number of weight plates on the machine. (The upper leg pads are not needed for leg extensions and can be removed for this exercise.)

The "pop pin plunger" for the upper leg pads needs to be unscrewed by about one and one-half turns in order to raise, lower, or remove the upper leg pads.I'd much prefer it if the pin could be fully pulled out and reinserted while the pop pin plunger is fully screwed in.

For leg curls, it is necessary for me to remove (or nearly remove) the upper leg pads so that I can get my legs onto and off of the lower leg pad.I like the thickness and firmness of the lower leg pad; most likely it won't ever hurt my shins when doing leg extensions.Also, the handle bars are well positioned for me. (I am 5' 10" tall.)

This product is very wobbly and doesn't work very well.After five minutes of use, washers come off, screws fall out and the legs start to come off.The digital monitor doesn't work either -- it didn't record steps or heart rate.I probably should have realized that a $200 fitness machine was too good to be true!

Body Solid GDIP59 Dip Station Review

The sticker on the bottom of this thing says "American Designed - and very well made in China". Well, they ain't kidding.This is one hell of a nice piece of equipment.
For starters, the shipping weight is 42 lbs.This thing is built like a truck.They use heavy steel box-sections for the frame, and the bolt flanges are welded all the way around, not just tacked.The bolts arebeautifully plated, and they use nylon-collar lock nuts rather than a pile of split washers.
In case you are wondering from looking at the photo, yes, this thing is tall.The bars are at 53" off the floor.For me, its great since I'm 6'3".However, there is also a cross bar at just the right height to use as a step when mounting.They include strips of no-slip tape to put on it, which is great.
Another thing I was trying to figure out from the photo was how wide the grips are spaced.If your wondering, they have a center-to-center spacing of 21" at the front, and taper outward to 23.5" at the widest possible grip position.The bars themselves are nice and fat at 1.5" in diameter with tough rubber grips.This thing could definitely survive in a gym environment.
The plastic end-caps on the feet are very well made, but are really for carpet.If you have wood floors like me, you will want to put a pad under them.I plan to just buy some adhesive rubber bumpers from the hardware store.
The company apparently does not make a chin up attachment for this unit, which is a shame since the base is definitely stable enough to support one.I plan to bolt extensions on to the vertical members and attach one.I was planning to do this all along, which is the main reason I bought this instead of a lighter model.Call me obsessive, but I really wanted a dip station with full length bars, and all the combo dip/chin stations I saw had only little stub handles for the dip.
Assembly involves tightening just eight bolts.You will need a couple of 3/4" wrenches, or an adjustable wrench and a pair of pliers.
They also include a bottle of touch-up paint.If you're wondering, the paint color is sort of a dull metalic silver-gray.
Overall, these guys clearly take pride in their work.Its very well made with great attention to detail, and even though it's more expensive that some others here, I think its a bargain for the price.

I'd noticed other reviews of exercise tubing in which some folks got the stated length but not as a single piece.This company is also apparently doing the same.I was hoping to get the 25 feet as a single piece, not as the 11 and 16 feet chunks I got (and I don't consider getting a bit 'extra' any bonus).If you order 100 ft ...what do you get ten 10foot pieces.Not completely truthful in my opinion.

Rep Band Latex-Free Tubing - 25' (25 ft) Review

I bought these in three levels (3, 4, and 5). The 3 is a good starting point, but as I have been using weight machines, I like the 4. I bought a set of handles and it a nice sturdy product. The best part, no latex smell, and no allergic reactions for me. It was easy to set up with handles, and functions as well as the tubes with handles at my gym. I will up date if they wear out fast, but they feel like they will last.

Body Solid GCAB360 CAM Series Ab / Back Machine Review

Overall the experience was good. The Ab/Back Machine arrived within the shipping date window. Shipping was free, that was nice & Amazon's price was better then direct purchase from the company.Set up procedure could be challenging for some as a parts list and exploded view of how the parts were assembled was all that was provided. I'm mechanically inclined & did not have any problems & machine was set up in about 3 hours. I would have liked an operator's manual as I'm sure there are features that I have yet to master. Both myself and my 16 yr old son like the machine and use it serveal times a week. I also have a Body Solid leg press machine which I have owned for 15 years. Both the ab and the leg machine are good values.

Nordic Track Professional Series 4000 Treadmill Review

I purchased a Nordictrac treadmill and (wisely, I thought) purchased an extended warranty through UTS (Universal Technical Services). Their website is [...]

The treadmill was not working correctly. The walking track was catching/sticking. After weeks of delays and back orders, they told me that they were not honoring the warranty. I am still unsure as to the reasoning as they have not provided an explanation that would legitimately give them a reason to not honor the warranty, which still has a year left on it.

I am unable to recommend Nordictrack or their extended warranties and UTS. A compnay and their products are only as good as the guarantee and the honesty to which they honor their guarantees.

First, this ball is "true" green, not the color in the photo. Second, there is a terrible "rubber/plastic" smell that gave me a headache when I first opened the package. Only after a couple days in the garage to air-out did the smell dissipate. I shutter to think what the workers that made this product are exposed to. Third, the pump is a joke. Plan to use a bicycle pump. Lastly, the product is what it says it is: an exercise ball. But it is heavy weight which is good and the puncture resistance is needed if you get into advanced workouts or you have dogs/cats that think this big ball is a toy :). When you first receive this ball you should unpack it and let it "age" in your garage for a few days before using it.

GoFit 75cm Professional Stability Ball Review

I bought this GoFit 75cm Stability Ball as a replacement for my desk chair at home. I've learned (from a trusted source) that sitting on a stability ball can burn 100 calories an hour. After using this for a month now, I'll bet that's true.

As for this specific stability ball - it's certainly a heavy-duty ball. It states a burst-rating of 1,200 lbs. I work at home and probably spend 6-8-hours a day sitting on this thing and it's very comfortable. At 6'2" and 220lbs, the 75cm size is perfect for use at my desk.

Use a bigger air pump if you have one. The pump that comes with it will take you a month to pump it up. I used a small portable air compressor and even that took a while to inflate. I did have to re-inflate it a bit after the first few days once it settled-in. That was no problem. I just used a pair of pliers to remove the plug.

I looked everywhere, but there were no instructions on inflating the GoFit ball that came with it. Not that it's rocket-science to pump up a ball, but a few tips might have been helpful. I used a long level and a measuring tape to figure out when the ball was closeto full-inflation. Just hold the level (or a yardstick, etc.) on top and measure the distance from the level to the floor.

The DVD and booklet that come with it seem to be a good bonus too.

All-in-all, a great Stability Ball for what I needed -- and a much healthier option than sitting in a regular chair all day!

J Fit 55cm Professional Grade Exercise Ball (Pearl Green) Review

First, this ball is "true" green, not the color in the photo. Second, there is a terrible "rubber/plastic" smell that gave me a headache when I first opened the package. Only after a couple days in the garage to air-out did the smell dissipate. I shutter to think what the workers that made this product are exposed to. Third, the pump is a joke. Plan to use a bicycle pump. Lastly, the product is what it says it is: an exercise ball. But it is heavy weight which is good and the puncture resistance is needed if you get into advanced workouts or you have dogs/cats that think this big ball is a toy :). When you first receive this ball you should unpack it and let it "age" in your garage for a few days before using it.
